The blades of these knifes are made of High Carbon High Chromium Steel (HcHCr). The quality of cut, period of time between sharpening as well as life of the blade are all dependent on the metal alloy used. The following chart presents typical qualitative lifetime of various blade materials relative to the standard steel.

Depending on your application, you can save cost, improve quality of cut, reduce interval between sharpening, as well as downtime of you cutting machine by purchasing a blade made of a higher grade metal alloy.
